The Sunnyside Monarchs baseball team outpaced the Leps Summer baseball team in game on Monday, coming away with an 18-10 victory.

Both teams found offensive success, with the Monarchs collecting 14 hits and the Leps tallying 13. Sunnyside jumped out early, plating five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Xaithan Castro and Dai Cuevas each delivered RBI singles, while Camden Barker grounded out to bring in another. Prince Garza capped the inning with an RBI single.

Cuevas added to the lead in the second with another run-scoring single to center, making it 6-1.

In the third, the Monarchs kept the offense rolling. Cubie Castro’s two-run single, Isaiah Castro’s RBI groundout, and another RBI single from Xaithan Castro pushed the score to 10-2.

Jaden Byam picked up the win for Sunnyside, allowing just one run on two hits over three innings. He struck out three and walked two. Julian Barron closed things out with 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, giving up just one hit and striking out one. Beau Donahoe was charged with the loss for the Leps, allowing 10 runs—six earned—on 10 hits over four innings.

At the plate, Xaithan Castro and Cooper Porter each collected three hits for the Monarchs, while Castro, Porter, and Cuevas each drove in three runs. Barker went 2-for-3 and drew two walks. As a team, the Monarchs showed strong plate discipline, drawing 10 walks. They also ran wild on the basepaths, stealing 13 bases, with Barker, Gunner Porter, and both Castros swiping multiple bags.

The Monarchs now sit at 14-21 for the season.
