Lewis didn’t make his season debut until May 6 because of the injury and then an aggravation of it in mid-June forced him out of the Twins lineup over the past 15 games.
Since making his big-league debut in 2022, Lewis played in only 182 games because of various injuries. Things started in 2021 when he suffered a torn ACL. He tore it again in 2022 and missed time in 2023 with both an oblique strain and a hamstring strain. Last year, his quads acted up and he played in just 82 games.
He hurt his left hamstring this season running out a groundball against the Miami Marlins on June 13, though it was termed less severe than the one he suffered in spring training that caused him to miss the beginning of the year.

This season, Lewis has just 110 plate appearances. He’s slashing .202/.282/.303 so far, just two years after hitting .309/.372/.548.

Five different players have started for the Twins this season at third base. Most recently, former first-round pick Brooks Lee has held the job regularly and begun to look like living up to his pedigree. But Lee also has starts at second base and shortstop. It’s unlikely he would unseat Carlos Correa at the former, which would mean Kody Clemens would likely take a seat more often at second base to keep Lee’s bat – he’s slashing .277/.311/.413) in the lineup.
The Twins enter the week’s series against the Marlins in third-place in the American League Central, 12 1/2 games behind the Detroit Tigers. Minnesota, at 40-44 overall, is 4 games behind final wild-card holder Seattle.
