The Alexandria Zimny Insurance Post 87 Legion baseball team got back on track on Tuesday with a pair of wins over Thief River Falls Post 117 to improve to 15-4 on the season. These wins ended a 3-game losing streak that Post 87 had been on coming into Tuesday’s games.

Post 87 won game one 8-4 and game two 5-1 in Thief River Falls on July 1, 2025.

A 5-run third inning gave Post 87 the 8-4 win in game one. Jackson Waltzing scored the first run of the game after Sam Anderson drew a bases-loaded walk. Brody Adelman drove in two runs on a 2-RBI single, then Evan Zabel knocked in a pair of runs on a 2-RBI double.

Adelman drove in a couple more runs in the top of the fourth inning on a 2-RBI double. Anderson later drove in a run on an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning to put Post 87 up 8-2.

Griffin Wimmer earned the win on the mound in game one, striking out seven batters in five innings pitched.

Post 117 led 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning of game two, but four runs in the top of the third inning and a run in the top of the sixth inning gave Post 87 the 5-1 win.

Wimmer tied the game 1-1 in the top of the third inning with a sacrifice bunt, then Adelman gave Post 87 a 2-1 lead on a RBI single. Evan Zabel reached base on an error, and Anderson scored on that error to put Post 87 up 3-1. Nolan Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk, allowing Adelman to score and pushing Post 87’s lead to 4-1 in the top of the third inning.

Wimmer scored an insurance run on a passed ball in the top of the sixth inning, putting Post 87 up 5-1.

Waltzing earned the win on the mound for Post 87 in game two, striking out three batters in seven innings.

Glenwood-Lowry breezes by Wheaton

The Glenwood-Lowry 18U Legion baseball team made quick work of Wheaton on Tuesday, capturing a 10-0 win in six innings in Glenwood.

Glenwood-Lowry (9-5) scored in five of the six innings, including a five-run bottom of the first inning.

Riley Dell had a pair of RBIs and scored twice. Noah Jensen also scored twice for Glenwood-Lowry.

Marc Gruber and Miles Wildman had two hits and scored twice, while Braylen Scharmer also had a pair of hits.

Ryland Martin struck out five batters in five innings to earn the win on the mound for Glenwood-Lowry.
