Shohei Ohtani crushed a tiebreaking three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a thrilling 14-11 comeback win over the Arizona Diamondback on Friday.

The reigning National League MVP immediately raised his hands in celebration as he launched the big fly, his 12th of the season, off righty Ryan Thompson with one out in the ninth, capping a six-run inning by the Dodgers.

It completed a 3-for-6, four-RBI outing for Ohtani that began with back-to-back doubles in his first two at-bats at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Aiming for his second Major League Baseball win, Roki Sasaki had a difficult start and left with none out in the fifth. He was charged with five runs on five hits and a pair of walks.

The 23-year-old right-hander took the mound with a 1-0 lead but surrendered two homers and three runs in the first inning. The Los Angeles offense brought him back into winning position by chasing Arizona starter Eduardo Rodriguez during a five-run rally that put the visiting team up 8-3 in the third.

Sasaki gave up a run on a groundout in the fourth and was pulled after leading off the fifth with a walk. The D-Backs tied it later in the inning when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. belted the team’s second grand slam in as many days.

Arizona went up 11-8 with two homers in the bottom of the eighth before the Dodgers came storming back. With the game tied 11-11 and two runners on, Ohtani had no doubt from the moment he got hold of Thompson’s 1-2 pitch, sending it deep into the right-field seats.
