Authors note: three doubleheaders in one report? In all my years of doing this, that is a first. Sheesh. Anyway back to our regularly scheduled programming:

GAME ONE: SYRACUSE 5, WORCESTER 2 / 7 (BOX)

The Mets hit Kyle Harrison, one of the key pieces for the Red Sox that sent star third baseman (or is it designated hitter?) Rafael Devers to San Francisco, dropping three runs in four innings on the lefty. Two of the runs came on solo homers, one by Francisco Alvarez in the first inning, and one by Pablo Reyes in the third. Luisangel Acuña added a run in between the solo shots, by way of a second inning sacrifice fly. The Mets third home run of the day, a two run shot by Drew Gilbert, put them ahead 5-2 and iced the game in the fifth.

SS Luisangel Acuña: 0-3, RBI
DH Jared Young: 0-3, R, BB, 2 K
C Francisco Alvarez: 3-4, R, HR (3), RBI

RHP Julian Merryweather: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, S (1)

GAME TWO: WORCESTER 11, SYRACUSE 1 / 7 (BOX)

Well, game two did not go as well as game one. Old Friend Robert Stock was excellent for Worcester, and the Mets gave up 11 runs, with Luis Moreno giving up seven of them (six earned). They mustered five hits, and their one run (on a Drew Gilbert single) came when they were down 10-0. It was a blowout, plain and simple.

CF José Azocar: 0-3
LF Jared Young: 1-2, R, BB
DH Francisco Alvarez: 0-3, 2 K
2B Luis De Los Santos: 0-0
SS Pablo Reyes: 1-3

GAME ONE: HARTFORD 5, BINGHAMTON 3 / 7 (BOX)

Hartford ran ahead 2-0 after runs in the first and second, but a three run Nick Morabito in the third inning actually put Binghamton ahead 3-2. The good vibes would not last, however, as the Yard Goats would tie it in the bottom of the third, and score two runs off of Hunter Parsons to give them a 5-3 lead, one that would stick through to the end.

Most importantly, Sean Manaea started the game and came out healthy. He was not unscathed, surrendering the first three runs of the game, giving up six hits, but I would take scathed and healthy over unscathed and injured. Brooks Raley also appeared in this game in a rehab assignment and threw another scoreless inning, striking out two. The big Mets need him so bad, and he has looked like his typically good self since starting his rehab assignment.

SS Jett Williams: 0-4, 2 K, E (10)
LF Carson Benge: 1-2, R, BB
CF Nick Morabito: 2-3, R, HR (4), 3 RBI

RHP Ryan Lambert: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

GAME TWO: BINGHAMTON 6, HARTFORD 0 / 7 (BOX)

Joander Suarez and Anthony Nunez dominated game two, as the duo threw a combined two hit shutout, walking zero and striking out six. It was a very nice display by both pitchers.

Offensively, Binghamton hit the ball hard. They hit two home runs, one a solo shot by one of their top prospects in Carson Benge. The second came off the bat of a third rehabbing big leaguer in this doubleheader, Jesse Winker. The lefty hit a three run home run to cap off the win.

SS Jett Williams: 0-4, K

REHAB ALERT: DH Jesse Winker: 1-4, R, HR (1), 3 RBI, K
CF Carson Benge: 1-4, R, HR (1), RBI

GAME ONE: HUDSON VALLEY 5, BROOKLYN 3 / 7 (BOX)

Hudson Valley ran out to a 5-0 lead, taking Nate Dohm out after 1.2 innings and all five runs surrendered (four of those were earned). He got lit up.

The Cyclones made it a game, with Jefrey De Los Santos driving in the first run for Brooklyn with a double, and Eli Serrano driving in the other two with a home run.

CF A.J. Ewing: 1-4, K

GAME TWO: HUDSON VALLEY 2, BROOKLYN 0 / 7 (BOX)

This was a good old fashioned pitchers duel, one that Brooklyn did not come out on top of. Will Watson had another solid showing, giving up three runs and two hits over five, walking two and striking out four. His ERA sits at 2.31, and he is continue to put his name on the map as a prospect to pay attention to going forward.

Unfortunately for Watson and Brooklyn, they ran into a buzzsaw on the other side. Kyle Carr completely shutdown the excellent Brooklyn offense, throwing a (seven inning) complete game shut out, striking out seven, giving up three hits and walking three. Brooklyn had some chances with their six total base runners, but Carr would not be beaten on the day.

LF A.J. Ewing: 0-2, BB, SB (37)
2B Jesus Baez: 0-3
CF Eli Serrano III: 0-3, 3 K
SS Colin Houck: 1-3, K
3B Boston Baro: 1-3, 2 SB (14, 15)

DAYTONA 7, ST. LUCIE 6 (BOX)

It has happened! The only nine inning game in the entire minor league system was played in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and it did not go well for the Mets.

Daytona led by a lot in this game, taking 6-0 lead by the middle of the fourth inning (with five of those runs coming in the top of the fourth).

St, Lucie began their comeback by scoring two in the bottom of the fourth, though Daytona made it 7-2 in the sixth — and that run ended up being hugely important. Trace Willhoite, Kevin Villavicencio and Nick Roselli all drove in runs in the sixth to make it 7-5 in the sixth, and Trey Snyder made it 7-6 with one out in the ninth with a single, but Jeremy Rodriguez and Daiverson Gutierrez could not chase him home to tie the game.

2B Trey Snyder: 1-5, RBI
SS Jeremy Rodriguez: 0-5, 4 K, 2 E (10, 11)
C Daiverson Gutierrez: 2-4, 2 R, BB, K, E (17)
