{KXLG -Watertown, SD} Watertown Post 17 returned to their winning ways on Tuesday night, securing a doubleheader sweep against Huron. The victories boost Watertown’s record to 16-11 in league play and 27-23 overall.

In the first game, Watertown established an early six-run lead in the second inning. However, Huron rallied to tie the game at 7-7 in the fifth. Watertown ultimately secured a 9-7 victory in the seventh inning, with a sacrifice fly from Cole Hansen and a single from Treyton Himmerich providing the decisive runs. Nash Berg, Kaden Rylance, and Nathan Briggs each contributed two hits for Post 17. On the pitching front, Kooper Heiser started for Watertown, pitching five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, and striking out eight. Carter Buisker and Nathan Briggs provided relief, each pitching one inning.

Game two saw Post 17 dominate from the start, taking a 10-run lead by the end of the second inning. Watertown continued to extend its lead, adding six more runs in the sixth inning to close out the game with an 18-3 victory. Huron’s defense struggled, committing four errors during the contest. Nathan Briggs and Cole Hansen were key offensive contributors for Watertown, both driving in three runs on two hits. Ashton Rabine earned the win on the mound, pitching three innings, allowing three hits, and recording five strikeouts. Cain Everson completed the game in relief.

Watertown Post 17 is scheduled to play its next home game on Monday, July 7th, against Dell Rapids. The doubleheader will feature games at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., with broadcasts available on Post 17 TV.
