JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — Several Mississippi high school and college baseball players expect to hear their names called in the first few rounds of the 2025 MLB Draft.
JoJo Parker, a shortstop from Purvis High School, is the No. 9 overall prospect, according to MLB.com.
Landon Harmon, a pitcher from East Union High School, is the No. 48 overall prospect.
Talon Haley, a pitcher from Lewisburg High School, is the No. 91 overall prospect.
Jacob Parker, also of Purvis High School, is the No. 109 overall prospect.
The Parker brothers and Harmon committed to Mississippi State, and Haley committed to Vanderbilt.
However, most high school prospects drafted in the first few rounds forgo college and sign professional contracts.
Southern Mississippi pitcher JB Middleton is the No. 41 overall prospect.
Ole Miss third baseman Luke Hill is the No. 98 overall prospect.
Southern Mississippi outfielder Jake Cook is the No. 106 prospect.
Ole Miss pitcher Mason Morris is the No. 117 prospect.
Mississippi State pitcher Pico Kohn is the No. 122 prospect.
The MLB Draft is on July 13-14.
The first night begins at 5 p.m. CT and consists of the first three rounds, compensatory rounds, competitive balance rounds and prospect promotion incentive selections. It airs on MLB Network and ESPN.
The second day, which begins at 10:30 a.m. CT, consists of rounds 4-20. It airs on MLB.com.
