The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a pitcher to add to their starting rotation which would likely take Bowden Francis spot in the rotation and it looks like that pitcher could be Texas Rangers Tyler Mahle.
Blue Jays could be interested in trading for Rangers pitcher Tyler Mahle
A recent update stated that Francis has yet to progress passed playing catch which means he is still a while away from returning to the lineup but even then, the Blue Jays might not have a spot for him anymore.
More #BlueJays injury updates:
– Bowden Francis is playing catch down at the PDC in Dunedin
– Alek Manoah has a side session scheduled for tomorrow; still hoping for 1 more 3-up live BP “and then away we go”
The Blue Jays are still looking to add a starting pitcher at the trade deadline and that looks like it could end up being Rangers pitcher Tyler Mahle as Texas is looking to move him.
As a result, obtaining solid starting pitching depth at the right price at the trade deadline is a must for Toronto. There is currently an ideal candidate that they should pursue that was a part of ESPN’s top 50 trade candidates where the Jays were deemed a best fit. That player is none other than Texas Rangers’ starter Tyler Mahle. -Eng
Mahle is currently recovering from an injury but would be a great fit for Toronto as he has been extremely consistent this season as he currently has a 2.34 ERA in 77 inning pitched.
Even if Francis somehow manages to find his game again, this would be a great move for the Blue Jays since they also are still unsure how long Max Scherzer’s thumb will last with all the pain he has been in.
