Interleague play is an abomination on the game and should be abolished whenever the game decides to expand to 32 teams.
Ok, that’s off my chest. The Phillies have been playing interleague games for years now and some of the games make sense. Seeing the Phillies in Fenway to take on the Red Sox? I’m down with that. Having the Yankees come to town for a three game set? Sure. Yet some matchups just don’t seem like they make sense to me. For example, when the Phillies play a team from the AL Central, it just doesn’t feel right. Maybe it’s because we don’t pay as much attention to those teams (and why would we?), but it just has always felt like an odd matchup on paper when the Phillies are playing, say, the Guardians.
Which brings us to our question of the day: which is your favorite interleague matchup to watch when the Phillies are involved? Maybe you enjoy the AL East teams that are considered the Phillies’ “rivals”. Maybe you like the novelty of seeing teams from the AL West. There has to be one matchup that always catches your fancy.
Except the Blue Jays. We forever hate the Blue Jays.
