SEATTLE — Mariners fans, the day has finally arrived. The Mariners will officially kick off the season against the Athletics at 7:10 p.m. Thursday night.

The Mariners announced their full 26-man roster Thursday morning.

After the team released fan-favorite Mitch Haniger on Sunday, the Mariners opening roster became a bit clearer. Haniger was a popular player among fans and in the clubhouse, but he struggled to stay healthy and commanded an expensive contract.

The Mariners will also begin the year without a couple of key pieces. Standout starting pitcher George Kirby is not expected to return until late April after suffering right shoulder inflammation during Spring Training.

Emerson Hancock will fill in for Kirby until his shoulder improves.

Dominant reliever Matt Brash is also expected to return by late April or early May as he continues to work back from Tommy John surgery he underwent last May.

Other relievers Troy Taylor and Jackson Kowar will also return from injury, but their timelines are unclear.
