During the Orcutt Academy softball squad’s historic 2025 season, Orcutt senior right-hander Valerie Gonzales pitched a total of 25 innings in the post-season and gave up a total of three runs.

Gonzales is the 2025 Times All-Area Softball Team Pitcher of the Year.

Gonzales struck out 14 in a three-hit complete game as top seed Orcutt Academy beat No. 2 Dos Palos 3-0 on Fresno State’s Margie Wright Diamond to win the CIF Central Section Division 5 championship. Gonzales pitched the last three innings in the No. 2 Spartans’ 6-1 win at No. 1 Rancho Mirage for the CIF Southern Cal Regional Division 5 title.

She was the Sunset League Pitcher of the Year.

The sectional and regional championships, under All-Area Coach of the Year Chris Duncan, were the first in program history. Gonzales pitched the first six innings of Orcutt’s 1-0 win over Fresno Hoover in the Central Section Division 5 semifinals then followed that up with a complete game in the Division 5 title game.

St. Joseph junior outfielder Kaycie Gavlak and Nipomo junior catcher-infielder Alie Camacho are the All-Area Team’s co-Gold Glove winners. Neither made an error this past season. Gavlak had 24 chances in the outfield, and Camacho, playing mainly catcher, was error-free on 135 chances.

St. Joseph junior second baseman Analyssa Cota is the Times All-Area Team Silver Slugger. Cota led the three-time Mountain League champions in home runs with eight, hits with 40, doubles with six and triples with four. Cota tied All-Area MVP Taylor Mediano for the team lead in RBIs with 29.

The All-Area Utility Player of the Year is Pioneer Valley senior catcher Mila Dolores. Dolores helped lead the Panthers to the Sunset League championship, a repeat Central Sectional divisional final and the first regional title game in program history, the Division 4 Southern Cal regional title game.

Dolores led Pioneer Valley in batting average at .393, with 20 RBIs, and was the Sunset League MVP. She signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills earlier this year.

The All-Area First Team pitchers are a pair of senior right-handers, Ciena Acosta of Pioneer Valley and Alex Brooks of Lompoc. Acosta passed the 700 career strikeouts mark at PV her senior season and was 7-6 with a 1.93 ERA. Brooks was 11-7 with a 2.22 ERA.

The All-Area First Team catcher is St. Joseph freshman Shai-Ann Valadez. Valadez batted .369. Valadez drove in 16 runs and made just two errors behind the plate.

The Times All-Area First Team infielders are Cota, Lompoc senior Grace Day, Righetti junior Natalia Cervantes and Pioneer Valley junior Kianna Real. Real hit .372, Day batted .369 and Cervantes hit .350.

The All-Area First Team outfielders are Righetti junior Seriniti Lopez, Lompoc junior Rianna Stouppe and Lompoc sophomore Lily Drysol. Stouppe batted .452, Drysol hit .373 and Lopez hit .360.

The Times All-Area First Team co-utility players are Righetti junior pitcher Emily Fortin, St. Joseph senior shortstop Seleny Chavez and Nipomo sophomore pitcher-infielder Ava Camacho, the Ocean League MVP.

Camacho batted .349 and posted an ERA of 1.48 for a Nipomo squad that won the Ocean League championship. Fortin posted an ERA of 2.03 as a pitcher, and hit .292. Chavez batted .316.
