The San Diego Padres have struggled lately to find a consistent performer in left field. While they’ve rotated multiple veterans and young talents alike, no real impact has really been made.

But if the Padres can make a move at the trade deadline later this month, then that problem can easily be erased.

And the solution’s name is Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds.

The outfielder has plenty of experience in the “7” spot on the field and would benefit San Diego greatly both in the field and at the plate with his bat.

That bat may be struggling slightly in the 2025 season, with the switch hitter having only 10 homers and a .226 batting average, but once he gets out of his funk, the Padres could have another reliable bat in a lineup that is already full of fire power.

The seventh-year veteran has amassed 24 home runs in the past four seasons and even boasted a .302 batting average in 2021 and a .314 average his rookie year in 2019.

And with Pittsburgh’s current slump as a team in the NL Central this year, the two-time All-Star should easily find himself on the trade market, despite $77 million remaining on his contract. He is a valuable asset at a market-discounted price, which could be a prime “buy-low” moment on Reynolds.

Reynolds would also bring a sense of poise and leadership in the Padres clubhouse that is like going through some midseason fatigue, a jolt that could propel San Diego in their quest for their first World Series championship.
