Brandon Lowe is in his eighth major-league season as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. The 31-year-old second baseman was selected in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft and made his big-league debut in 2018.

Lowe broke out in 2019, making his first All-Star appearance and finishing third in American League Rookie of the Year voting despite missing most of the season’s second half with a right shin bone bruise and a left quad strain.
He finished in the top 10 in AL MVP voting in both 2020 and 2021, but since then has struggled to stay healthy, appearing in under 60 percent of Rays games over the past three seasons.

In 2025, Lowe got off to an outstanding start and last week earned his second All-Star selection.
Unfortunately, he will miss the event: after sitting out his fourth straight game with left oblique tightness, the Rays placed him on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 8.

If Lowe feels healthy, he can be reinstated in time for the post-All-Star-break opener against the Baltimore Orioles.
Following a red-hot June, Tampa Bay has hit a rough patch—dropping seven of its last ten games—and now owns a 50-45 record. Despite the recent skid, the Rays remain in sole possession of a Wild Card spot in the American League.
Through 84 games in 2025, Lowe is batting .272 with 19 home runs, 50 RBIs and an .811 OPS—the highest mark he’s reached since his last fully healthy season in 2021. His power numbers have been a key driver of Tampa Bay’s success, and his return in the second half of the season will be crucial.
