The Atlanta Braves are running out of time.
Following a let-down split against the New York Mets, the Braves were blown out on Friday and couldn’t muster any offense again on Sunday while dropping two-out-of-three to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Going into the first day of July, and set to welcome the Los Angeles Angels, Atlanta finds themselves 10.5 games out of first place in the National League East with little in the way of offensive consistency this season.
Can the Braves turn it around? Sure. But there isn’t much to inspire confidence given how they closed-out June.
The Angels will be without manager Ron Washington, who will miss the remainder of the season due to medical concerns. Although not the player he was, Atlanta fans should get a chance to see Mike Trout in action and also welcome back former players Kenley Jansen and Travis d’Arnaud (Jorge Soler is on the IL).
Half-way through 2025, the Angles have pitched well. Offensively, they hit a lot of home runs, which has them playing around the .500 level and in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the American League.
Atlanta will roll out the back-end of their starting rotation seeking wins in the worst way. With their offensive struggles continuing to mount this is a dangerous series with the All-Star break only a couple of weeks away.
