With the 36th pick in the Major League Baseball Draft, the Minnesota Twins chose Alabama pitcher Riley Quick.

Quick, who was the Tide’s Saturday starter in 2025, posted an 8-3 record and led the Tide with 70 strikeouts.

His 2024 season was cut short due to an elbow injury. He worked his way back into the starting rotation, making 14 starts for the Tide in 2025.

Quick was a two-sport star at Hewitt-Trussville. Standing 6-6, he was a highly-rated offensive line prospect who made his home on the pitcher’s mound for the Tide.

Quick became the second Hewitt-Trussville Husky to be drafted, joining high school phenom Steele Hall, who went 9th overall to the Cincinnati Reds.
