BALTIMORE (WBFF) — The Baltimore Orioles will open the 2025 season on Thursday, as apart of Major League Baseball’s Opening Day.

The O’s will be in Toronto taking on the Blue Jays, in an American League East clash.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:07 p.m., and it will be televised on MASN2.

How good will the Orioles be this season?

The AL East is one of baseball’s toughest divisions.

Baltimore is coming off a 91 win season, and has made the playoffs in each of the last two years.

The team is looking to take the next step from good, young club to a true title contender.

Surely, the O’s will be looking for some postseason success, after struggling in the playoffs recently.

The team lost pitching staff ace Corbin Burnes to free agency, and went for a quantity-over-quality approach by bringing in veterans Charlie Morton and Tomoyuki Sugano to supplement its starters.

However, it will be dependent upon the team’s health and its young players taking the next step in their development for the Orioles to be a winner.

What is the likely Opening Day lineup?

The biggest missing name from that batting order in shortstop Gunnar Henderson, who is on the Injured List for the first time in his career as he recovers from an intercostal strain.

He is eligible to be activated on April 3, so he could return to the lineup soon.

Righthander Zach Eflin will take the ball for the O’s on Opening Day.

What else should Orioles fans know ahead of Opening Day?

This is the first time that the Orioles have opened a season in Toronto.

The only other time the teams faced off on Opening Day was in 2017 at Camden Yards, when the O’s secured a 3-2 victory.

This is the sixth time in seven seasons that the Orioles will open their season on the road.

Toronto has won their past five games on Opening Day.

This week, the team unveiled new features for the 2025 season at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, including new food offerings and an expanded Bird Bath Splash Zone.

For the past two years, a flyball hit between 373 and 384 feet to deep left field at Camden Yards typically landed in an outfielder’s glove. This season, those balls will have a chance at landing in the mitts kids bring with them to the ballpark.

Some of the space created by the team altering the dimensions of Camden Yards’ left field wall will be called the “Home Run Porch,” a raised standing area where fans 12 years old and under can hang out and wait to catch long balls when they clear the fence.

The standing area, accessible by two sets of stairs, will only be open to young fans with tickets for sections 78, 80 and 82, Griggs said. Baltimore plans to roll out the initiative to begin the season and get feedback from fans before making a permanent decision on how to use the space moving forward.

The team is bringing back the orange-on-orange uniforms for the first time in 15 years.

They will be worn on select home games throughout the 2025 season.

The Orioles home opener is set for Monday, March 31 at 3:05 p.m.
