Eli Willits just became the youngest No. 1 overall pick in MLB history.
The Washington Nationals selected Willits, a University of Oklahoma baseball commit, with the first pick in the 2025 MLB Draft Sunday, making 17-year-old Willits the youngest first-overall pick in MLB history.
Willits reclassified from the 2026 class to this year’s class and it’s obviously paid off for himself.
Willits is the son of OU associate coach Reggie Willits and the younger brother of the Sooners’ starting shortstop Jaxon Willits.
Willits played his high school baseball at Fort Cobb-Broxton, where he led the Mustangs to six-straight state championships, fall and spring ball, through the past three seasons as the starting shortstop.
