The Chicago White Sox selected Patriot graduate Riley Eikhoff Monday in the ninth round of the 2025 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.

The two-day draft began Sunday with rounds 1 through 3. The second day covers rounds four through 20.

Eikhoff was the first player taken in the ninth round and the No. 256 player selected overall.

A starting right-handed pitcher at Coastal Carolina, the 5-foot-10 Eikhoff, a red-shirt senior, helped the Chanticleers reach the finals of the College World Series this season.

Eikhoff went 7-2 this season in 17 starts. He finished with 71 strikeouts and 11 walks in 90 innings and a 3.10 ERA.

Eikhoff is the third Patriot graduate to be drafted since the school opened in 2011.

The others are pitchers as well: right-hander Nick Brown, a 2013 graduate who went in the 32nd round to Minnesota in 2017 after playing at William & Mary, and left-hander Kevin Warunek, a 2021 graduate who went to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 18th round of the 2024 MLB Draft after playing at Longwood.

Eikhoff was the Cedar Run District Pitcher of the Year his junior season at Patriot in 2019. He did not have a senior high school season due to the pandemic.Â
