Two Long Island natives were picked in the first three rounds of the MLB Draft on Sunday night, and four more players with Long Island ties were selected Monday afternoon as the draft resumed.

The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Wake Forest lefthanded pitcher Joe Ariola, a Malverne native who attended Chaminade High School, in the seventh round with the 213th overall pick.

In the eighth round at No. 242 overall, the Seattle Mariners chose Holy Cross righthander Danny Macchiarola, who is from Garden City and played for Xavier High School in Manhattan.

The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Hofstra infielder Dylan Palmer at No. 323 overall in the 11th round, and the Kansas City Royals selected University of New Haven righthanded pitcher Randy Ramnarace, from Brentwood, with the No. 488 overall pick in the 16th round.

Ariola, 21, appeared in 21 games with two starts for Wake Forest this spring, posting a 5.11 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 28 walks in 24 2/3 innings. He attended last month’s MLB Draft Combine in Arizona and made three starts for the Trenton Thunder (the Yankees’ former Double-A affiliate) in the MLB Draft League this summer.

Macchiarola, 20, made 16 starts for Holy Cross this past season and helped lead the Crusaders reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight years. He went 9-5 with a 3.27 ERA, a 1.174 WHIP and 92 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings. He entered the transfer portal this offseason and committed to Miami.

The 213th pick has a $274,100 slot value, and the 242nd pick has a $224,100 slot value.

Palmer, from West Windsor, New Jersey, slashed .400/.449/.536 with a homer, 13 doubles, seven triples, 32 RBIs and 32 stolen bases this spring.

Ramnarace went 2-1 with a 2.51 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings this spring.

Hauppauge catcher Michael Oliveto was selected 34th overall by the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Rocky Point’s Cody Miller, an infielder who played three seasons at East Tennessee State, went in the third round at No. 96 overall to Atlanta.
