CLEVELAND, Ohio — José Ramírez is the American League Player of the Week for the eighth time in his career after leading the Guardians to six wins on their final road trip before the All-Star Game.

Ramírez, elected by fans to start the Midsummer Classic for the fourth time in his seven appearances, withdrew from the showcase last week citing the need to rest and recover from heel and ankle injuries before Cleveland’s second-half bid for a postseason spot.

The Dominican slugger belted four home runs and drove in 11 while stealing seven bases and posting a 1.163 OPS in seven games against the Astros and White Sox.

It marks the first time this season Ramírez has won the award. He last claimed the honor on Sept. 28, 2024.

Kyle Stowers of the Marlins who hit .500 and posted a three-homer game on July 13 was named National League Player of the Week.
