NOTRE DAME, Ind. (WSBT) — Two Notre Dame baseball players will pursue their professional careers after hearing their names called during the second day of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Starting pitcher Rory Fox was a sixth-round selection, No. 194 overall, by the New York Yankees.
Fox was the Saturday starter for the Irish all season, leading the team in ERA for starters (3.58), innings pitched (65.1) and total starts (14).
He was second on the team in strikeouts (64).
Fox also led the entire ACC with only three home runs allowed and opponent batting average (.187).
The other Irish player selected was shortstop Estevan Moreno in the 20th and final round, No. 602 overall by the Seattle Mariners.
Moreno was second on Notre Dame this past spring in home runs (10) and RBI (43).
He hit 30 long balls across his three-year career.
Moreno also confirmed to Matt Freeman of Irish Sports Daily that he will forgo his final year of college eligibility and sign with Seattle.
