Several players and coaches from Mercer County were part of the Astro Falcons who won the 14U Youngstown Class B League championship last Thursday.
They are assistant and 3rd Base Coach Dave Bodien (Sharon), Bryce Bodien (Sharon), Nolan Golub (West Middlesex), Seth Lordo (Hickory), Carter Hicks (Hickory), Dylan Gardner (Hickory), Vaughn Kansco (Hickory), Gavin Purdy (Grove City), and assistant coach Rich Purdy (Grove City).
The team earned the No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs with an 11-3 regular season record and finished 15-3 overall.
The team swept its way to the title. The Astros beat the Avalanche 10-2 (6 innings) and 10-0 (5 innings) in the best-of-3 semifinals.
In the championship series, the Falcons beat the Prospect Pirates 14-4 (5 innings) in the opener and 17-1 (4 innings) to wrap up the 14U crown.
