The Detroit Tigers begin the second half of the season where they’ve been for most of the past three months: Ahead of everyone in MLB.
An MLB-best 59-38 record and 11½-game lead in the American League Central Division has the Tigers as a near lock to make the playoffs, just more than 11 months after they had a 0.2% chance to make the 2024 postseason.
It’s been an incredible last year or so for Tigers fans, as the team has seemingly picked up right where it left off in the 2024 regular season, not just winning but often doing so in dramatic fashion.
From Spencer Torkelson’s walk-off double in April against the Chicago White Sox to Javier Báez’s epic walk-off home run in extra innings vs. the Red Sox in May, it’s been a season of many triumphant redemption stories mixed in with a group that has a flair for the dramatic.
