EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Two baseball pitchers with ties to the Borderland have joined the Baltimore Orioles.

According to El Paso Matters, Daniel Lopez, who graduated from Socorro High School in 2024, was picked in the 12th round of the Major League Draft by the Orioles,

El Paso Matters said that after graduating from high school, the Socorro alum was named to the Texas High School Coaches association Super Elite Team, before playing this last season for Odessa College.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina team, the Burlington Sock Puppets, took to social media to announce that Isaac Silva was signed with the Orioles.

Silva is from Las Cruces and graduated from Organ Mountain High School, before joining the Troy University in Alabama’s baseball team and then transferring to Murray State’s in Kentucky, according to Murray State’s website.
