New York Daily News | Peter Sblendorio: On Sunday, the Yankees selected Dax Kilby with their first pick in the MLB Draft, headlining their 19 player class. Scouting direction Damon Oppenheimer breaks down the Yankees’ selections and gives some insight into what they saw in some of this year’s picks.
FanGraphs | Jay Jaffe: If you were to pinpoint the one spot on the field that’s given the Yankees the most issues this year, it’s probably third base. They’ve played several substandard hitters there this year, and the one that isn’t is Jazz Chisholm Jr. who is not a natural at the spot defensively. That being said, third base has been iffy for several contending teams this year, and many of them may be looking to upgrade the spot this trade deadline season.
New York Post | Mark W. Sanchez: One of the targets most connected to a possible Yankees third base trade is the Diamondbacks’ Eugenio Suárez. The Arizona slugger obviously talked of wanting to help his current team win, but he does sound like he would be intrigued by a trade to New York.
The Athletic | Will Sammon: Having been a journeyman over the last couple seasons, veteran reliever and former Yankee David Robertson is currently a free agent. However, Robertson is still looking to pitch this season, and the Yankees are one of the teams that’s reportedly looked into him. The Bombers certainly could use some bullpen help, as they’ve dealt with injuries and shakiness there for much of this season.
