At long last, a full slate of Padres minor league baseball. Padres affiliates went 2-4 with one suspended game on Friday.
Here is our daily recap of games played.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 9-5 vs Tacoma) (49-45 on the season)
Yonathan Perlaza – 2-for-4, Three-Run Home Run

Luis Campusano – 1-for-4, RBI Double
Wes Benjamin – 1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 2 K (48 pitches – 30 strikes)
An eight-spot in the second inning set the Chihuahuas in a deep hole they were unable to come back from, falling 9-5. Wes Benjamin allowed five runs in 1.2 innings, being chased in the second inning. Manuel Castro looked to end the inning, but allowed three runs on two hits and a walk, still managing to record the final out of the inning. Omar Cruz pitched well out of the bullpen, throwing three innings of one-run baseball. Cruz punched out two batters and flashed a slider that sat at 80.2 mph with 2250 rpm. Francis Pena struck out two batters in a scoreless inning.
Yonathan Perlaza continues to boost his performance in July, as he went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Three came on a 415-foot home run hit in the fourth inning off right-hander Casey Lawrence. Luis Campusano returned to El Paso and hit an RBI double in the loss. Brandon Lockridge finished with two hits out of the leadoff spot, scoring a run. Clay Dungan scored two runs in the loss, as the team finished 3-for-6 with runners in scoring position, albeit with a 0-for-10 showing from the 7-8-9 hitters.
I believe that is what you call a NO DOUBTER

San Antonio Missions (Lost 6-0 vs Amarillo) (49-39 on the season)
Francisco Acuna – 1-for-4, Single
Devin Ortiz – 1-for-2, Single, Walk
Enmanuel Pinales – 3 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 0 K (62 pitches – 37 strikes)
Right-hander Enmanuel Pinales was torched in three innings of work, allowing six runs on eight hits. The hard-throwing right-hander did not record a strikeout in the game, with three hits against him going for extra bases. The third inning really snowballed on him, as he allowed four runs in the frame. Pinales has allowed an extremely high .382 BABIP in his time at Double-A, and there are signs of positive regression for the right-hander. Kevin Kopps was the standout performer out of the bullpen, tossing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Both he and J.B. Wendelken tossed two scoreless frames, with Ryan Och & Andrew Moore chiming in with a scoreless inning apiece. The offense was sluggish and unable to do much against Jose Cabrera, who allowed one hit in seven innings. Francisco Acuna and Devin Ortiz had the Missions’ only hits, both hitting singles. Romeo Sanabria drew two walks, but the rest of the offense was held hitless.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 4-2 vs Lake County) (43-44 on the season)
Brandon Butterworth – 2-for-4, Home Run
Braedon Karpathios – 2-for-4, Single, Double, RBI
Isaiah Lowe – 3.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 1 K (72 pitches – 45 strikes)
Isaiah Lowe allowed seven hits and four runs, three earned, in 3.2 innings. The right-hander was tagged for harder contact by the Captains, but he managed not to allow an extra-base hit. Lowe has made strides in his development this season, but he has been plagued by “the big inning” this season, a frame in which batters will post a crooked number against him. Lowe evaded first-inning struggles (12.33 ERA this season), but allowed three in the second. Misael Tamarez, signed on July 16, made his TinCaps debut with 1.1 innings of relief. Fernando Sanchez and Luis German struck out four over three innings, keeping the game in check.
Brandon Butterworth continues to mash in the month of July, as he launched yet another leadoff home run. Butterworth has hit .392 with a 1.210 OPS in July, with five round-trippers in 13 games. Braedon Karpathios had two base hits in the game, driving in a run on an RBI single. Karpathios is having his best month of the season for batting average, hitting .289 with a .360 OBP and .511 slugging. Brendan Durfee finished 0-for-1 but took a foul tip to the right hand in the second inning; Oswaldo Linares pinch-hit for him in the third. Sean Barnett was 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored on the day.
#Padres prospect Brandon Butterworth is crushing the baseball In July, hitting five homers and posting a 1.210 OPS. Definitely rising in my prospect rankings!pic.twitter.com/CPDsCq31AG

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 5-1 vs Rancho Cucamonga) (40-48 on the season)
Cobb Hightower – 2-for-4, RBI Single
Victor Figueroa – 1-for-5, Double
Maikel Miralles – 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K (65 pitches – 45 strikes)
Maikel Miralles delivered five shutout innings for the Storm, striking out four batters. Miralles’ fastball-slider combination played well for the right-hander, allowing him to find success this season. Bernard Jose allowed three runs while only recording two outs, ultimately taking the loss. Tanner Smith and Kleiber Olmedo pitched scoreless baseball, with Smith throwing 1.1 innings and Olmedo a scoreless seventh. Adam Conrad was charged with two runs in the loss.

Yimy Tovar – 1-for-4, Single, Two RBI
Alex McCoy – 1-for-4, RBI Single
Langston Burkett – 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 K
San Diego’s ACL affiliate pounced on Royals pitching in the first two innings, riding an early 5-0 lead to a 7-6 win. Luis De Leon reached base three times in the game, stealing two bases and scoring a run. Alex McCoy continues to show his strong swing, as he went 1-for-4 with an RBI single. Yimy Tovar had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, driving in two. Yoiber Ocopio drew two walks and scored a run while playing first base, and Ismael Javier drove in two runs in the game out of the nine-hole. On the mound, Langston Burkett threw four innings as the starter, allowing three runs on six hits. Burkett got two strikeouts, receiving some help from his defense. Jimmy Reyes allowed three runs in two innings. Roberto Burgos threw two innings and flashed his swing-and-miss stuff, striking out five. Xavier Ruiz struck out two in the ninth to earn the save.
DSL Padres Gold – Suspended 4-0 in 4th inning vs DSL Brewers Blue
The Padres Gold’s regularly scheduled game against the DSL Brewers Blue was suspended in the fourth inning due to rain. The Padres Gold led 4-0 after three full innings of play. Raymel Belliard had thrown three innings of no-hit baseball, striking out four. Eddson Martinez and Eduarlin Tejeda each had a bases-loaded walk, and Yorvin Morla hit a sacrifice fly, later scoring a run on a balk.
DSL Padres Brown (Won 3-1 vs DSL Athletics) (17-16 on the season)
Endy Rios – 2-for-3, Two Singles
Darian Castillo – 1-for-3, Two-RBI Single
Kelvin Marte – 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Kelvin Marte tossed five innings of one-run baseball as the Padres Brown won 3-1 over the DSL Athletics. Marte’s five innings of one-run baseball made for his best career start. Josias Figuereo struck out two in two innings of relief, earning the win. Endy Rios had two base hits in the game, and Darian Castillo’s lone hit turned the tide of the game. With two on and two outs in the sixth, Castillo singled to drive in two runs, giving his team a 2-1 lead. Castillo would score on a wild pitch later in the frame, extending the lead to 3-1, which became the final score.
