Zach Thompson runs through his three best bets, picks and predictions for Sunday night’s Tigers at Rangers matchup.

If you missed baseball during the All-Star break, hopefully, you were able to immerse yourself in a stacked Sunday slate. With most teams finishing their first series of the ceremonial second half, Sunday Night Baseball caps off a busy weekend with a fun matchup in Texas between the Rangers and Tigers at Globe Life Field. Let’s take a look at the matchup and identify some best bets for Rangers vs. Tigers.

The Rangers have taken the first two games in the series to improve to 50-49 while dropping the MLB-best Tigers to 59-40. The Tigers will look to stop their six-game skid by giving the ball to Tarik Skubal. He’ll face off against lefty Jacob Latz, who is starting in place of Nathan Eovaldi, who was scratched with back tightness.

The Tigers are -188 favorites since they have such a big starting pitching advantage, with the run line set at seven runs.

Best Bets for Tigers at Rangers on 7/20/25 on DraftKings Sportsbook

Tarik Skubal under 1.5 earned runs allowed (-125)

Skubal will look to shut down the Rangers and get the Tigers back on the prowl. He has an impressive 10-3 record in his 19 starts with a 2.23 ERA, 2.02 FIP and 0.83 WHIP this season.

The Mariners beat up Skubal in his last start before the All-Star break, but before that, he had back-to-back shutout starts against the Guardians and Twins. He has been able to keep opponents under 1.5 runs in six of his last nine games and 11 of his last 17.

The reigning AL Cy Young winner did face the Rangers earlier this season, allowing one run on two hits in seven innings to earn a win with 12 strikeouts. The Rangers have been playing better lately, but the lineup is still struggling. Skubal will look to keep them quiet on Sunday.

H2H: Most Total Bases Moneyline: Riley Greene over Corey Seager (-130)

I included Greene in my top home run prop bets of the day, so I think he’s got a great shot to end up with more total bases than Seager.

Seager doubled on Friday and singled on Saturday, bringing his average to 2.2 total bases per game over his last 10 contests. During that same timeframe, Greene has also averaged 2.2 total bases per game but has at least four total bases in four of his last five games after homering on Saturday.

Greene is taking on a lefty, but Latz will likely only be around for two at-bats at most. He has been very productive this season on the road with a .287 batting average and .403 wOBA when away from Comerica Park.

Skubal has held lefties to a .180 batting average and only one extra-base hit all season. Seager does have some good history against Skubal, though, going 6-for-9 with a double in their past meetings.

Mostly since Seager has to deal with Skubal, I think Greene has the advantage in this head-to-head matchup, making it one of my top Tigers vs. Rangers best bets.

Javier Baez over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (+125)

Baez should have a chance to take advantage of the matchup against Latz, and has fueled his resurgent season by mashing lefties. He is hitting .351 in the split with a .372 wOBA.

Baez didn’t play on Saturday after going 1-for-3 with a stolen base in his first game back after the break. He has 11 HRR (hits + runs + RBI) in his last six games and has gone over this HRR line in 10 of his last 20 games.

On the strong side of his splits, I like Baez to get at least 2 HRR on Sunday Night, and I love getting this prop at slightly plus money.
