The MLB draft is in the rearview mirror and now the teams are working furiously to sign their draft classes. In the minors, this was a quiet week for RoboScout because full-season clubs had some time off. Still, there were some near-term performances worth noting for your dynasty league.

Let’s see who has caught RoboScout’s optical sensors this week.

Dominican Summer League Hitting

Gabriel Davalillo (Angels), Miguel Caraballo (Giants) and Anderson Araujo (Phillies) are all interesting DSL catchers who we’ve mentioned in the past. A native of Venezuela, the 17-year-old Araujo has seven homers and eight steals in 114 plate appearances. His 21% strikeout rate is on the high side but the tradeoff is huge power with a .289 ISO.

Rockies outfielder Cristian Arguelles may be 18 and on the older side for the DSL, but he’s forcing his way into the conversation. His performance caught our attention in June. Known more for his hit tool than power, Arguelles has added some thump with four home runs and a 223 wRC+. He owns the second-highest peak wRC+ projection in the DSL, trailing only Reds outfielder Pablo Nunez.

With a mini slump, Guardians outfielder Juneiker Caceres falls below Pirates outfielder Edward Florentino, who is currently crushing in Low-A Bradenton. Meanwhile, Caceres’ teammate Dauri Fernandez is trending up after a strong week that included two home runs and four stolen bases. His wRC+ jumped 11 points, and he’s now slashing .333/.398/.558. Two weeks ago, RoboScout projected Fernandez to peak as a .260/.320 hitter with 21 homers and 11 steals. After his surge, that projection has jumped to 27 homers and 17 steals.

Astros righthander Jesus Carrera debuts in the top five on the heels of a 46% strikeout rate and 3.4% walk rate. The 20-year-old out of Mexico is a bit undersized at 5-foot-11 with a low release height, but he gets a surprising 6.5 feet of extension. The fastball isn’t all that hard but plays up with the extension and has 18 inches of armside run making it difficult for batters to square up. He also throws a changeup with nearly two feet of armside fade and some feel for two breaking balls.

Royals righthander Kendry Chourio hasn’t walked a batter in seven innings since coming stateside yet has sent 37% of them back to the dugout on strikes. At 17 years old, Chourio pairs a 95-98 mph fastball with a sharp upper-70s curveball that befuddles opposing batters. His changeup also has good armside fade against lefties. With a 56% groundball rate, Chourio’s floor seems to be a back-of-the-rotation starter. What’s he doing this summer? Dominating his pro debut—despite still needing parental supervision to watch I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Reds catcher Alfredo Duno enters the Low-A top 10 for the first time this season after hitting another bomb. If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and read this story on his all-star weekend experience.

Cardinals third baseman Deniel Ortiz isn’t far behind. With nine home runs and 28 stolen bases, RoboScout projects the 20-year-old as a 20/20 bat in the majors at peak.

Orioles outfielder Nate George also continues to climb, moving up three more spots. Since June 15, the 19-year-old has posted a 168 wRC+ with one home run and 14 stolen bases. RoboScout projects George as an above-average bat with 15 home runs and 25–30 steals—putting him on the radar as a potential top 25 fantasy hitting prospect.

It was a relatively quiet week on the pitching front, with limited action from arms near the top of the list. But Cubs righthander Jostin Florentino made noise with six no-hit innings, striking out nine and walking just one. The 20-year-old throws from a sub-5-foot release height, giving his fastball a flat plane and helping his secondaries play up. His curveball, in particular, gets over 20 inches of gloveside sweep. Over his last 28 innings, the Dominican righty has posted a 27% strikeout rate, 6% walk rate and a sub-1.00 WHIP. He’s now on the back end of the Low-A list, but with an average of more than five innings per outing for Myrtle Beach and a solid pitch mix, he’s flashing traits of a potential back-end starter.

Red Sox outfielder Yophery Rodriguez has been one of the hotter hitters the past month with a 140 wRC+ and a home run and four stolen bases in his last 81 plate appearances at High-A Greenville. With Quinn Priester shoving the past few starts for the Brewers, it’s a good thing that the 19-year-old has bounced back from his early season slump or the Red Sox faithful might be second-guessing another Boston trade. Rodriguez enters the back end of the High-A top 20.

Blue Jays shortstop Arjun Nimmala has been slumping too with a 31 wRC+ over his last 108 plate appearances and only one home run. He has maintained manageable 23% during that stretch, so view this only as short-sample variance. RoboScout still projects the 19-year-old as a 20–25 home run bat at peak.

A common theme in this week’s pitching section: limited movement, with only a handful of notable arms getting starts during the shortened slate.

A’s lefthander Wei-En Lin was one of them, adding another three innings to his High-A Lansing body of work and hurdling over Athletics prospect Gage Jump to sit in the top three.

Rays righthander T.J. Nichols also took the mound, striking out 10 over six innings. That outing vaulted the 23-year-old from just off the list to No. 15. Nichols features a mid-to-upper-90s fastball and a tight bullet slider, while lefties get a changeup with over a foot of fade and a 9 mph velocity gap—plus 9 inches of IVB difference—from his heater. RoboScout sees back-of-the-rotation potential with a peak projection around a 1.25 WHIP and 4.00 ERA.

Fresh off a Futures Game appearance, Sebastian Walcott climbes back into the top four after homering and stealing two bases. RoboScout projects an above-average bat with 25 home runs and 15–20 steals. He’s an obvious top-tier fantasy prospect.

Mariners infielder Michael Arroyo a long-time RoboScout favorite, homered this week and now owns a 178 wRC+ at Double-A over 78 plate appearances. Dating back to last season, RoboScout has projected Arroyo as a 120 wRC+ major league bat with 20–25 homers and solid defense at second base. That profile continues to hold strong in 2025.

Congratulations to Reds infielder Sal Stewart, who earned a promotion to Triple-A Louisville after smashing six home runs in his last 92 plate appearances. RoboScout’s peak projection: a .279 average, .343 OBP, 20 homers, and 11 stolen bases.

Red Sox lefty Payton Tolle and Blue Jays southpaw Kendry Rojas each added another strong outing last week and remain entrenched in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots on the Double-A charts. Both have excellent performance with strikeout rates above 40% and walk rates around 5%. Based on their season-long performance across multiple levels, RoboScout projects both as future midrotation starters. With Tolle already in the BA Top 100, it’s fair to say Rojas is underrated right now.

Orioles righty Trey Gibson had a great start on Saturday, striking out nine over 4.1 innings. On the season, the 23-year-old has an 11.7% walk rate but RoboScout still sees a sub-4.00 ERA in the major leagues with a 25% strikeout rate.

They’re not traditional prospects, but White Sox utilityman Brooks Baldwin and Dodgers outfielder/first baseman Ryan Ward continue to produce at the upper levels.

Ward boasts a 90th percentile exit velocity of 106 mph and pairs it with a strong 78% contact rate. RoboScout sees 30-homer upside and a wRC+ above league average. The Dodgers’ depth chart remains crowded, but Ward is making a strong case for major league playing time.

Baldwin, despite struggling in 155 MLB plate appearances, has shown a 78% contact rate and posted a Statcast slash line of .277 xBA / .347 xOBP / .506 xSLG in Triple-A. RoboScout projects the 24-year-old as a 25-home run threat with double-digit steal potential thanks to 90th percentile sprint speed.

With Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes hitting the IL with a hamstring strain, Shay Whitcomb may finally get a chance to showcase the power-speed combo RoboScout has long believed in—despite a quiet showing in his earlier major league stints.

Tigers righty Troy Melton climbs another spot in the rankings after four more shutout innings with eight strikeouts and one walk. RoboScout has always liked the arsenal and he’s added even more velocity in 2025. He projects to have a nearly identical peak major league projection as Brewers righthander Logan Henderson.

Since May 29, Phillies righthander Andrew Painter has made nine starts, throwing at least five innings in all but two—and even in those, he surpassed four frames. He’s now up to 67 innings on the season and has built the stamina to face lineups a third time through. With the Phillies firmly in the World Series hunt, it’s not hard to read between the lines: Painter looks poised to contribute in the second half and beyond. Can’t wait.

Happy bidding!
