After earning its first Southeastern Conference win of the season Friday, Mizzou baseball won its second consecutive game against Texas A&M 4-1 and also won its first conference series of the season Saturday in College Station, Texas.
Four Tigers collected an RBI in the win. Senior right fielder Pierre Seals and junior shortstop Jackson Lovich each went 3-for-5 at the top of the lineup.
Seals plated the final run of the game for Mizzou (15-35, 2-24) with an RBI double in the ninth inning.
The Tigers used six pitchers, and they combined to allow only one unearned run.
Sophomore right-hander Sam Horn dealt on the mound before a rain delay cut his start short. He struck out five in 2â…” innings. Junior southpaw Tony Neubeck followed in relief and collected four strikeouts in 3â…“ innings.
The third and final game of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.
CC’s Bailey wins 400 at USF Fighting Chance Invite
Sophomore Bernard Bailey shined for Columbia College track and field on Day 2 of the USF Fighting Chance Invite in Joilet, Illinois, as he won the 400-meter race with a time of 48.66 seconds.
Sophomore Oscar Curry finished eighth in the 800 with a time of 1:57.27.
Columbia will next compete in the NAIA Outdoor Championships, with the first event slated to begin at 9 a.m. May 21 in Marion, Indiana.
