MALCOLM – After scoring no runs against Loomis Saturday, Frontier Bank Post 55 (Pender) needed to score runs (and more importantly, win) if they wanted to keep their season alive in the Class C State Tournament.

Pender did just that, scoring six times betwene the fourth and fifth innings before survivng a late rally to down Tecumseh 9-6, living to play one more day in Malcolm.

Tecumseh would get the scoring started in the top of the third via an error before Ryan Linkous doubled to center, helping Pender tie the game in the bottom of the inning.

Pender would break the tie with their first three-run spot in the bottom of the fourth when Jaden Browning walked to score a run and Jaxson Wegner singled home two runs for a 4-1 lead.

Pender would tack on another three runs in the bottom of the fifth before addint another two in the bottom of the sixth and survivng a late Tecumseh rally for the win.

Jake Schuster opened the game for Pender, surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits with four walks and nine strikeouts over 6.2 innings, while Tayt Welsh collected the final out for Pender in a relief appearance.

Wyatt Fulton stepped on the hill first for Tecumseh, allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits with five walks and three strikeouts over five innings.

Pender was able to tally 10 hits in the game after only producing four the day before, with Zander Welsh leading the way with three in his four at bats.

Owen Hathaway was productive from his nine-hole spot, collecting two hits and two RBIs from the plate.

Pender is back for another elimiation game this afternoon as they battle Meridian Tri County at 1.
