Joey Volini is officially a Miami Marlin.

Carlos Collazo of Baseball America reported on Monday that the former Florida State Seminole pitcher had signed with the Marlins for $297,750. It is an underslot deal, as the No. 168 pick had a value of $397,000.

Volini spent just one season with the Seminoles and was a major part of their success, serving as their No. 2 starter behind Jamie Arnold. He made the All-ACC Second Team after recording a 3.50 ERA over 87.1 innings in 15 starts, going 8-5. He pitched two complete games.

The Tampa, Florida, native spent the first three seasons of his career at USF before transferring to FSU ahead of the 2024 season. He was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week on March 31 and was the NCBWA’s Pitcher of the Month in March.

Volini was one of three FSU players that the Marlins drafted; they also took Max Williams and Drew Faurot. All three players have signed with them and are set to start their professional careers. It was the first time they have ever taken multiple Seminoles in one draft and the fourth time ever that any MLB team has taken three former Seminoles.
