ORGANIZATION. OBVIOUSLY, THE PIRATES ARE A GREAT ORGANIZATION, AND OBVIOUSLY IT WAS KIND OF A DREAM TO BE THERE, BEING ABLE TO PICK THEIR BRAINS LIKE SCHEMES. AND JARED JONES, SO KIND OF ALWAYS WANTED TO BE THERE. OBVIOUSLY WITH THE PIRATES, GREAT ORGANIZATION. SO BEING ABLE TO GET PICKED BY THEM, THOSE SUPER SURREAL, BUT ALSO LIKE BEING ABLE TO SHARE THE FIELD WITH THOSE GUYS WAS SUPER COOL. SO BEING ABLE TO COME HERE WAS DEFINITELY A DREAM COME TRUE. I HAD FOUR PITCHES THIS YEAR FASTBALL, CURVEBALL, SLIDER, CHANGEUP. OBVIOUSLY, MY CHANGEUP HAS ALWAYS BEEN PRETTY, MY BREAD AND BUTTER. BUT I THINK THIS YEAR ESPECIALLY, I WAS ABLE TO SPIN ALL FOUR PITCHES FOR STRIKES, WHICH WAS REALLY COOL. AND THEN I THINK IT WAS REALLY JUST BEING ABLE TO FINE TUNE MY MECHANICS, MAKE IT REPEATABLE. The Pirates have signed their first round draft pick to his first professional contract.Seth Hernandez will skip college at Vanderbilt and instead begin his pro career.The 19-year-old prep school pitcher from California had a terrific senior season. Hernandez was 9-1 with an 0.39 ERA and struck out 105 batters in 53.1 innings.Hernandez met with Pittsburgh media this afternoon.
