It doesn’t seem Braves Country has to wait until the July 31 trade deadline because Marcell Ozuna trade talks have intensified, according to Hector Gomez, who reports the Padres are very interested in landing the Big Bear, with Atlanta set to potentially receive their 18th and 21st prospects, Francis Pena and Ryan Bergert.

Ozuna is one of a few obvious trade chips the club has, and with the recent commitment to the Sean Murphy/Drake Baldwin platoon at catcher and DH, the Braves seemingly sealed Ozuna’s fate.
The veteran does have the option to veto any trade because he’s been in the league for 10 years and with the current club for five of them, but it seems like he’d be open to the idea being traded, per David O’Brien of The Athletic.
