A Galt all-star team will compete in the Cal Ripken World Series in August after winning the Pacific Southwest Regional Qualifier.

The Galt 8U Cal Ripken team went 3-1 in pool play at the qualifier tournament, which took place in Galt from July 14 to 20, then won two playoff games to punch a ticket to the Cal Ripken 8U World Series.

The World Series will take place from Aug. 15 to 24 in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Galt opened pool play of the regional tournament with a 20-7 victory over Long Beach, then lost 15-3 to COBA Stars from Hawaii. Galt then bounced back with a 14-10 win over Visalia Blue, and a 10-0 shutout victory over Elk Grove Blue to finish pool play with a 3-1 record.

COBA Stars also went 3-1 for the other playoff spot from Pool A, while Buchanan and Laguna Purple each went 3-1 to qualify from Pool B.

Galt defeated Laguna Purple 9-5 in the semifinals, while Buchanan beat COBA Stars 6-3 in the other semifinal.

The championship game went to extra innings, with Galt emerging victorious with an 11-10 win in eight innings.

The Galt team batted .467 as a team during the tournament’s six games, with Nathaniel Joiner leading at 16-for-21 (.762). Jameson Pearman (14-21, .667), Jordyn Fluty (13-20, .650) and Beau Savage (7-13, .538) all batted over .500. Fluty added five triples and 12 RBIs, Joiner had five doubles and 13 RBIs, and Fluty, Joiner and Pearman each had a home run.

The Galt team is made up of Rowan Enriquez, Connor Deegan, Savage, Fluty, Brady McNamara, Guner Brechbill, Thiago Bueno, Joiner, James Arosteguy, Pearman, Ayden Alvarez and Anthony Knock. The team is coached by Richard Savage, with assistant coaches Jed McNamara, Chris Alvarez and Larry Fluty.
