MINNEAPOLIS, MN. — Former Alabama starting pitcher and the 36th overall pick in the 2025 MLB draft, Riley Quick, has officially signed his contract with the Minnesota Twins for $2,692,000, the full slot value for the 36th pick.

The Hewitt-Trussville alum becomes the sixth first-round draft pick in program history and the second straight draft selection, joining Ben Hess, who was selected 26th overall by the New York Yankees in 2024.

Quick was on the radar of plenty of MLB organizations entering the 2025 campaign. Still, two questions surrounded him as a prospect: his health after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2024, and putting together a full season of production in a starting role on the mound. Quick answered the call, leading the Alabama weekend rotation in wins (8) and ERA (3.92) while leading the entire pitching corps in strikeouts with 70 while touching 99 miles per hour.

Quick is the third and final Crimson Tide draft pick to sign his professional contract, following Kade Snell, who was selected in the fifth round by the Chicago Cubs, and Richie Bonomolo Jr., who was a seventh-round selection by the New York Yankees.
