MIDLAND — Bon LaChance drove in five runs as the Cubs defeated Big Rapids 14-2 in their opening game against Big Rapids but fell 5-0 to Bay City in the second game.

The Cubs got on the board right away in the top of the first inning as, Bon LaChance doubled down the right field line and Isaiah Brow hit a single up the middle with each hit producing a run. The Cubs added a third run on an error by Big Rapids to put the Cubs up 3-0.

Big Rapids put up one run in the bottom of the first inning. However, the Cubs would respond with three runs in the fourth with the bases loaded as LaChance came through with a three-run double, his second of the game extending the Cubs lead to 6-1.

Isaiah Brow earned the win for the Cubs allowing two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in a complete game effort.

In the second game, the score was tied at zero til the fifth inning when Bay City put up three runs on a two-run double by Brady Vannest and an RBI-single by Isaac Plave. Bay City extended the lead to five in the seventh inning on a two-run single by Ben Briggs.

Cam Parker earned the win for Bay City allowing zero runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
