There is usually at least one Marine League team in the hunt for the L.A. City Section Open Division baseball title.

This season, however, the quartet of Banning, Carson, Narbonne and San Pedro are in Division I this year, all starting in the second round Thursday.

The Pilots (19-8, 11-2) are the Marine League champions and the top seed in the division. The Pilots ended the season winning their last eight games. Banning will host either No. 16 Franklin or No. 17 LACES Thursday at 3 p.m. The play-in games, which will determine the opponents for Marine League four will be played Tuesday.

Carson (15-13, 9-4) finished two games behind Banning and is the No. 2 seed. The Colts will host either No. 15 South Gate or No. 18 Wilson.

Narbonne (13-15, 7-6) was the third-place team in the Marine League and received the third seed. The Gauchos will host either No .14 Roosevelt or No. 19 Marshall.

San Pedro (13-14, 7-6 ) is fourth seed. The Pirates finished fourth in the Marine League and will host the winner of the play-in game between No. 13 South East and No. 20 Hamilton.

The Marine League teams can’t meet each other until the semifinals. The quarterfinals are May 17, followed by the semifinals May 21 and the championship game is May 24.

In Division II, Harbor Teacher is the 14th seed and will host No. 19 Stella High Charter Academy in a play-in game Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Port of Los Angeles is the seventh seed and will host No. 10 Grant Thursday at 3 p.m.
