CLEVELAND — With the trade deadline rumor mill buzzing, the Guardians and Rockies meet July 30 to determine their three-game series at Progressive Field.
The Guardians dropped the series-opening game of the series in brutal fashion before rebounding July 29, led by Kyle Manzardo’s first multi-homer game of the season.

Guardians extend lead over Rockies: score update
The Guardians loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning and weren’t able to do much, but a Brayan Rocchio sacrifice fly to right field made it 3-0 Cleveland.

Kyle Freeland injury: Starter exits game with illness
Rockies starter Kyle Freeland has been pulled from the game due to “illness effects.” He allowed two runs on three hits in three innings.
Jaden Hill is on to pitch for Colorado.

Kolby Allard throws 3 scoreless innings vs Rockies
Kolby Allard did his job and then some, tossing 3 1/3 innings and allowing only one hit while striking out five. Matt Festa is on to pitch the top of the fourth inning in what will be a bullpen game from him.

Guardians, Rockies score: David Fry blasts 1st-inning home run
Facing Rockies starter Kyle Freeland in the first inning, Jose Ramirez nearly hit a home run to left field but instead settled for a double. One batter later, David Fry did get one over the 19-foot wall in left for a two-run home run and a 2-0 Guardians lead.
Fry was hitting just .165 coming into today, but it’s his fifth home run in 38 games.

The Guardians and Rockies play a three-game series beginning July 28 before the Minnesota Twins will face Cleveland in a three-game AL Central series beginning Aug. 1. The Guardians then hit the road on road trips to face the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox.
