As we sit less than one day away from the MLB trading deadline, trades are starting to pick up, as teams are looking to plug holes on their rosters before making a playoff push. Expected to be one of the main sellers at the deadline, the White Sox have made just one move.

While there are still moves that will be made, Chris Getz should reevaluate his plans at the deadline, as everyone should be on the table. With the market shifting heavily in favor of sellers, Getz could get some significant pieces back in a trade if he is open to moving more than just the upcoming free agents.

Earlier today, the White Sox acquired the Yankees 18th ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, in exchange for Austin Slater. Since Slater was signed to be flipped, this was a great move for the White Sox. However, this is just one of the trades that has exemplified the current trade market.

The Minnesota Twins reportedly acquired two top-100 prospects for closer Jhoan Duran. This is significant, as teams haven’t traded a top-100 at the deadline in a few years. The Giants received the New York Mets’ 10th and 12th ranked prospects for a rental reliever, and the Cubs reportedly traded their 13th and 14th ranked prospects for former White Sox pitcher Mike Soroka.

These moves all bode well for the White Sox, as it is still expected that they will trade Adrian Houser and Luis Robert Jr. before tomorrow’s trading deadline. However, with the amount of solid prospects moved to this point, Chris Getz may need to think twice about who he wants to trade at the deadline, as he could completely revamp the system.

While Duran is an elite closer and deserved a haul, other teams that have been buying pitchers have given up multiple top-15 prospects in exchange for players that will be a free agent at the end of the year. The White Sox should take advantage of that and make most of the roster available in a trade.

While there hasn’t been much noise about a potential Mike Tauchman trade, with the going rate, the White Sox should make it a priority to move him. The same could be said about Davis Martin, as a controllable number three starter could fetch a haul with how the deadline is going.

The White Sox should be listening to offers on pretty much every player besides the rookie hitters and a few others. If a team is willing to overpay, now may be the time to pull the trigger and get a solid haul. Chris Getz is running out to time to make moves, as the deadline is at 5 P.M. tomorrow. Getz made three trades right before the buzzer last year, so hopefully he is in the process of making some moves.

If the White Sox need to package players to get a better haul, they should do it, as that led to them acquiring Miguel Vargas at the deadline last year. While teams have been shy to trade their top-100 prospects, now is the time to take advantage of the teams that are willing to trade from their top-10/15 to acquire players that can help them for a playoff run this year, and the White Sox have plenty of players that could fit that bill.

The White Sox likely have a good idea of who they want on the next playoff roster, and if a player does not fit that bill, they should be out the door tomorrow, as they could be flipped for a nice return. GM Chris Getz will have some tough decisions to make, but with the way things have been going around the league, he could look like a genius.

Chris Getz should find himself very busy over the next 19 hours or so, as he could acquire a few prospects that could help the White Sox reach the playoffs in the next few seasons.
