Padres minor league affiliates continued their regular seasons on Wednesday, going 0-0 in games played.

Here is our daily recap of games played.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 8-6 in 10 innings vs Round Rock) (55-48 on the season)

Yonathan Perlaza – 2-for-6, RBI Single

Rodolfo Duran – 3-for-5, Home Run, Go-Ahead Double

Logan Gillaspie – 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 3 K (79 pitches – 56 strikes)

In a tense back-and-forth game, El Paso triumphed after scoring three runs in the tenth inning. Rodolfo Duran was the story of the game as the Chihuahuas’ DH, finishing with three hits, two for extra bases. Duran had a game-tying home run in the eighth inning and drove in the go-ahead run in the tenth. Luis Campusano had an RBI walk in the game, but also reached on a critical fielding error that scored two runs in the tenth. Yonathan Perlaza and Mason McCoy each had two hits, driving in a run. Tim Locastro drew four walks, scoring twice. Nate Mondou finished the game with three hits and an RBI.

Logan Gillaspie ran into early trouble, allowing three runs in the first inning. Despite this, he was able to pitch five innings, striking out three and allowing four runs. Kyle Hart pitched in relief for a second straight outing, striking out two. Francis Pena was unable to exit the seventh, walking two and allowing a run. Sean Reynolds exited the frame with no further damage. Alek Jacob struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief, earning the win. Miguel Cienfuegos entered in the tenth, allowing a two-out RBI hit, but retiring the final batter for the win.

San Antonio Missions (Won 7-4 vs Frisco) (52-46 on the season)

Moises Gomez – 1-for-5, Two-Run Home Run

Devin Ortiz – 3-for-5, Double, Two RBI

Enmanuel Pinales – 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 3 K (82 pitches – 50 strikes)

The Missions’ offense has clicked into gear, as the team scored four in the final four innings to win over the RoughRiders. Moises Gomez and Devin Ortiz continue to be a tough twosome for opposing pitchers at the top of the Missions’ lineup; Ortiz finished 3-for-5 with a two-run double late in the game. Moises Gomez had a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Missions an early 2-0 lead. Albert Fabian hit a sacrifice fly to score Marcos Castanon in the second inning. Castanon had two hits as the Missions’ DH. Brandon Valenzuela was 1-for-4 with an RBI walk, and Ripken Reyes had two hits and a walk at the bottom of the order, scoring two runs.

Enmanuel Pinales threw six innings for the Missions, striking out three batters. While Pinales did not get the same amount of strikeouts as he did earlier in the season, he navigated his outing efficiently, getting six ground ball outs and a double-play grounder. Jake Higginbotham was strong in relief, striking out four in 1.2 innings. Right-hander Tyson Neighbors finally locked down his first Double-A save, retiring the final four batters of the game.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 4-3 in 10 innings vs Great Lakes) (48-49 on the season)

Brandon Butterworth – 3-for-5, Game-Winning Single

Rosman Verdugo – 2-for-4, Two Singles, Walk, Run Scored

Clark Candiotti – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K (23 pitches – 15 strikes)

The TinCaps rallied from a 3-0 deficit late to win 4-3 in extra innings. The late innings were absolute cinema, but before getting there, we begin with TinCaps starter Clark Candiotti. Candiotti made his second start since returning from injury and tossed two effective innings on 23 pitches. Candiotti’s progression will likely be slow-paced the rest of the season to keep him on the mound and progressing, but he is showing improvements in a small sample since returning. Sam Whiting allowed one run in 3.1 innings despite command struggles; the right-hander struck out four but walked five. Bodi Rascon walked three in 1.1 innings, allowing two runs. Misael Tamarez has made quite the introduction in Fort Wayne, as he tossed 1.1 scoreless with three strikeouts. Garrett Hawkins entered in the ninth and overpowered the Loons’ lineup, striking out four in the ninth and tenth innings combined. His scoreless streak is now up to 34 innings.

The TinCaps clawed back into the game in the seventh and eighth innings. Rosman Verdugo and Braedon Karpathios reached base on a single and a walk to open the seventh, and Kaden Hollow bunted them over to second and third. Oswaldo Linares doubled to shallow center to score the two runners, bringing Fort Wayne within a run. While the TinCaps didn’t bring in the tying run in the seventh, the eighth would bring another opportunity, and they cashed in. Brandon Butterworth singled to open the inning, followed by a walk to Ryan Jackson. Braedon Karpathios hit into a force out, setting up runners on the corners with one out for Rosman Verdugo. Verdugo singled to right field, scoring Butterworth and tying the game. Verdugo extended his hitting streak to four games and is shaking off a mid-month slump as of late. The game was tied into the tenth, where with Leo De Vries on second base, Brandon Butterworth stepped up to the plate. He wasted no time, turning on the first pitch from Cam Day into left field. De Vries raced home, scoring ahead of the throw from Zyhir Hope to win the game.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 5-4 in 10 innings vs Inland Empire) (45-53 on the season)

Kasen Wells – 2-for-3, Home Run, Three RBI

Lamar King Jr – 2-for-5, Two Singles

Kash Mayfield – 4 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K (62 pitches – 39 strikes)

Left-hander Kash Mayfield struck out five batters against Inland Empire, allowing only one run. Mayfield was efficient on the mound, scattering five hits in the game. He has continued to trend upward since returning from injury. Mayfield now has a 13.39 K/9 mark this season across 40.1 innings, one of the highest marks in the system. Kleiber Olmedo allowed two runs in two innings of work. Adam Conrad bounced back from a rough stretch with two scoreless innings, fanning one. Tanner Smith tossed a scoreless ninth but allowed three runs in the tenth inning to take the loss; he was able to strike out three and has impressed so far in his 15 innings with the Storm.

Kasen Wells was the story for the Storm’s lineup, as he drove in three of the team’s four runs. Cobb Hightower reached base once in five at-bats, and Lamar King Jr had a two-hit day. Zach Evans drew two walks in the game as well. Victor Figueroa and Kavares Tears come into the game off the bench, with Figueroa finishing 1-for-2 with a single. Wells had a tenth-inning inside-the-park home run to score two in the tenth, but it would be one run short in the loss.

Kasen Wells just made it ALL THE WAY around the bases before the left fielder could even pick up the ball to get us within one!!!#EmbraceTheStorm?️ pic.twitter.com/IwhtEMOrHE
