LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Aramark Sports + Entertainment is now a minority owner of the Athletics.
The A’s and Aramark confirmed the purchase of an equity stake, part of an announcement that the hospitality company will become the concession provider for the team’s Las Vegas baseball stadium.
“This partnership reflects our belief that great hospitality should be at the heart of the fan experience,” A’s President Marc Badain said in a news release.
Restaurateur and author Will Guidara will curate the culinary and hospitality vision for the stadium. He will consult on creating a hospitality brand and food and beverage programming for baseball games and other events.
“Our work together with the A’s will be evolutionary in sporting event experiences,” Alison Birdwell, president and CEO of Aramark, said in a statement. “What we do in Las Vegas will be the gold standard for the industry moving forward.”
Aramark’s investment in the A’s comes as the price tag for the Las Vegas stadium keeps rising.
Majority owner John Fisher told The Nevada Independent this week that the cost of the venue is now pegged at $2 billion, up from the previous estimate of $1.75 billion. Public funding for stadium construction is capped at $380 million.
The next construction update could come during a Las Vegas Stadium Authority board meeting scheduled for Aug. 21.
