On-air mistakes happen to even the best broadcasters in the business. But typically, these mistakes are limited to one specific error that is immediately caught. Unfortunately was not the case for Apple TV+’s play-by-play voice Alex Faust on the call of Friday Night Baseball between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Washington Nationals.
In the top of the second inning, as Faust was speaking about the Nationals managerial situation, Brewers center fielder Blake Perkins took National starting pitcher Mitchell Parker deep for a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1.
The ball went out in a hurry, which clearly rushed Faust as he was in the middle of his story. Faust would give a very delayed home run call after the ball had already landed, which featured several crucial inaccuracies.
“This is belted to left by Jansen,” said Faust. “Or rather, by Perkins. And it’s a one-out home run. A solo shot, to put the Brewers on top 1-0.”

Not only did Faust misidentify Perkins for Danny Jansen at first, who batted ahead of Perkins in the Brewers lineup on Friday. But he also explained to viewers at home that the game “put the Brewers on top 1-0”, which was not the case, as the score was 1-1 after Perkins home run.
It didn’t take viewers too long to point out Faust’s inaccuracies, taking to social media to air their grievances with several parts of his home run call, whether it be how long it took him to start the call, misidentifying Perkins, getting the score wrong, or all of the above…

Fortunately, Faust did get a chance to redeem himself later in the game when Perkins hit a second home run of the game and delivered a far better call the second time around.
