NY Mets: Breaking down Mets’ additions of Tyler Rogers, Ryan Helsley
The Mets bolstered their bullpen by adding Tyler Rogers and Ryan Helsley one night before the trade deadline on Wednesday night in San Diego.
NEW YORK — The new-look Mets came out on the short end of their debut on Friday night.
Despite a quality start by David Peterson, Pete Alonso home run and a late comeback, the offense could not deliver with the bases loaded in the 10th and dropped a 4-3 loss to the Giants.
Ryan Helsley flashed his late-inning firepower in his debut with the Mets but Edwin Diaz could not lock ir down.
Now, the Mets will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak in the second game of their set with the Giants at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at Citi Field.
Cedric Mullins, who popped out in a pinch-hit appearance Friday, will make his first start in center field for the Mets. He’s slated in the No. 7 spot in the lineup.
Kodai Senga will hope to play the role of stopper for the Mets. He enters the start with a 7-3 record and 2.00 ERA.
Kai-Wei Teng, a 26-year-old right-hander out of Taiwan, will be making his major league debut on Saturday.
