First baseman Tyler Locklear registered his first hits in an Arizona uniform as the Diamondbacks beat the Athletics 6-4 on Sunday to take the series.
Locklear hit a bloop single into right field off Athletics righty Jack Perkins in the second inning. Locklear would score later off a Jose Herrera sac-fly during a three-run inning for the Diamondbacks.
In his second at-bat in the third inning, Locklear drew a walk and stole a base. He would score again courtesy of an Alek Thomas RBI single. Locklear finished the game going 2-for-3 with a walk.
Locklear started his Arizona career on Friday after being acquired by the Diamondbacks in the Eugenio Suarez trade. Prior to Sunday’s game, Locklear had seven at-bats though two games, going 0-for-7 with three strikeouts.
Connor Kaiser registers 1st major league RBI
In his first game of the season after being called up on Friday, D-backs second baseman Connor Kaiser registered his first career RBI with a bases-loaded walk. Kaiser finished the game 0-for-3 with a walk and is hitless through his first seven at-bats.
Alek Thomas has strong series against Athletics
Thomas had another strong game Sunday, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. He finished the series hitting 7-for-12 with a home run and two RBIs.
Diamondbacks’ next game
After a nine-game road trip, the Diamondbacks return to Chase Field on Monday for a three-game series against the San Diego Padres, their first time at home since the trade deadline.
