CLEVELAND, Ohio — For nearly 70 years, Cleveland held one of baseball’s most enduring records: the largest attendance for a single Major League Baseball game.
On Sept. 12, 1954 more than 84,00 fans attended a doubleheader between the Indians and at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. That mark has finally fallen, though the circumstances surrounding its demise were anything but ideal.
