Sights, sounds from Brewers’ 25th anniversary of American Family Field

The Milwaukee Brewers held a 25th anniversary celebration of American Family Field on July 25, 2025.

ATLANTA – The Milwaukee Brewers will try to put the wraps on a perfect road trip as they close out their series with the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park on Wednesday night, Aug. 6.

Left-hander José Quintana (8-4, 3.50) starts for the Brewers, while right-hander Spencer Strider (5-8, 3.71) counters for the Braves.

Milwaukee enters the game with the best record in baseball at 69-44, the best road record at 33-24 and with the majors’ top run differential at plus-126.

Braves are inching closer

With two outs in the sixth, Jurickson Profar lifted a solo homer to left to narrow the Brewers’ lead to 5-3.

Quintana recovered to finish the sixth with no further damage, and called it a night after 93 pitches. He allowed seven hits and the three runs, didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven in yet another steady performance.

Another long ball for the Brewers

With one out in the fifth, Isaac Collins singled to left and Christian Yelich followed by inside-outing a roller to the left side with third baseman Nacho Alvarez Jr. shifted way over.

That allowed Collins to roll into third and Yelich into second with a double. Andrew Vaughn’s chopper to the left of the mound scored Collins, then Blake Perkins lofted a two-run homer to right that increased Milwaukee’s lead to 5-1 and chased Strider from the game.

Perkins has doubled, singled and now homered in his three at-bats.

Atlanta threatened right out of the chute in the bottom of the frame when Alvarez doubled and Nick Allen singled to put runners on the corners.

A fielder’s choice scored Alvarez, then Quintana generated consecutive fly-ball outs from Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson to limit the damage to a run.

Andrew Vaughn strikes again

Three first-inning singles by the Braves gave Atlanta the early lead, but as has been the case so frequently during their run the Brewers answered right back with a run of their own on consecutive two-out doubles by Perkins and Brice Turang.

Then, to lead off the third, who else but Vaughn delivered the lead when he smacked a 409-foot home run to center.

Milwaukee collected three hits after that, including a two-out Joey Ortiz double, but a caught stealing mixed in there limited the scoring to only Vaughn’s blast.
