Brewers alumni home run derby is a hit

The Milwaukee Brewers held an alumni home run derby as part of their 25th anniversary celebration of American Family Field on July 25, 2025.

The three-run homer Isaac Collins hit Aug. 4 to help propel the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves was only his fifth extra-base hit over the last 30 days. But don’t let all the singles fool you.

In that stretch, Collins has hit .341 with a pair of homers, 14 RBI and four stolen bases. His on-base percentage over that time is .438.

Collins added a pair of hits, including a triple and two more RBI, Aug. 5 in a 7-2 victory over the Braves. Brewers manager Pat Murphy appears to be right that “we don’t talk enough about Isaac Collins.”

Perhaps that’s because the rookie outfielder’s offensive consistency is leaving some people speechless.

But before Collins won the NL rookie player of the month award Aug. 4, Las Vegas had already picked up on how well Collins is playing. He’s moved up to second in the rookie of the year odds.

Here’s what oddsmakers think of Collins — and the Brewers, in other categories:

Isaac Collins’ odds to win National League rookie of the year

Collins is second at +275, behind Atlanta catcher Drake Baldwin (-150). Baldwin, a Madison native, has hit .282 with 11 homers and 41 RBI. Collins has hit .275 with seven homers and 37 RBI.

Jacob Misiorowski’s odds to win National League rookie of the year

After a couple of short starts following the all-star break and a trip to the injured list, Misiorowski’s chances at winning rookie of the year have dropped considerably, to +1800.

Brewers’ odds to win the World Series

Despite winning 44 of their last 60 games, the Brewers continue to hold the eighth spot on the World Series odds chart at +1400, along with the Seattle Mariners. The teams ahead of Milwaukee? The Los Angeles Dodgers (+250), Philadelphia (+750), Detroit (+900), the New York Mets (+1000), the New York Yankees (+1000), Toronto (+1200) and, yes, the Chicago Cubs (+1300).

Brewers’ odds to win the National League

Las Vegas does respect Milwaukee’s two-plus-month surge enough to push it ahead of the Cubs to win the NL pennant at +550, but two teams — the Dodgers (+155) and Phillies (+425) — are ahead of the Brewers, and the Mets are tied with them.

Brewers’ odds to win the National League Central Division

With a four-game lead over the Cubs with 49 games to play, simple math says the Brewers should be the favorite to win the division, even with five games remaining at Wrigley Field and 12 games against current playoff teams in September. The Brewers are -190 to finish atop the NL Central. The Cubs have slipped to +145.
