Baseball is getting a new boss at Dyersburg State, and he knows his way around both a dugout and a championship run.

Dyersburg State Community College has hired Cooper Goen as the new head coach of the Eagles baseball program. The Austin native brings NCAA Division Ii experience, a College World Series pedigree and a coaching background packed with offen sive production and player awards.

Steve Cornelison, DSCC Athletic Director, said, “We are extremely excited about Coach Goen and what he brings to our program. He has played and coached college baseball at the highest levels and been successful doing so.”

Goen earned three Texas All-State selections at Hyde Park High School before joining Texas Christian University from 2016 through 2019. He played on thre e Horned Frogs teams that reached the NCAA Division I College World Series, then moved into coaching as a graduate assistant at TCU. He studied sports broadcasting and minored in Spanish.

His coaching career began in 2020 at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where he worked with base runners, catchers and hi tters during a season cut short by the pandemic.

Goen joined Oakland University in 2021 and helped guide the program to its best record in five years. A freshman catcher he coached was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team.

In 2022, Goen moved to Murray State University and worked as an assistant hitting and catching coach. The Racers led the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked 14th in the nation with 119 stolen bases. He coached two players who made the Buster Posey Watch List, awarded to the top college catchers in the country. T he 2024 team finished with 102 home runs and 37 wins.

He returned to Oakland in 2025 as the associate head and hitting coach. Under his leadership, the Grizzlies ranked ninth in stolen bases nationally and produced three All-Conference players.
