Jacob Misiorowski rallies Brewers past Cubs in Game 1 of series
Jacob Misiorowski pushed through a rough first inning but rallied the Brewers in an eventually win over the Cubs at American Family Field in Milwaukee on July 28, 2025.
Milwaukee Brewers rookie sensation Jacob Misiorowski has made it a point to sample the Milwaukee culture now that he’s arrived in the big leagues — but he maybe didn’t need to go quite this far.
The injured right-hander spent some time at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis on Aug. 7 and participated in the customary sampling of weird foods, including a donut absolutely smothered in bugs.
The Brewers posted video of Misiorowski, adorned in an appropriate “Barn To Be Wild” State Fair T-shirt, giving it a try.
It did not go all that well.
“Other than what the protein is, it’s good,” Misiorowski offered through clenched teeth. “The donut itself is good. The bugs? Three (out of 10).”
It’s called the Bavarian Cream Bug Donut, served by All Things Jerky. A long john filled with Bavarian cream and edible ants is topped with chocolate icing, crickets, grasshoppers, worms and a scorpion.
Misiorowski, on the injured list with a left tibia contusion, also spent an earlier off-day touring the famous Miller Brewery in Milwaukee and got some lottery-level good luck at a Greenfield card shop.
As for his next appearance on the mound? That’s up in the air, though he’s said he expects his injured-list stay to be minimal.
He’d be eligible to return on the team’s next road trip, starting in Cincinnati (Aug. 15-17) and then to Wrigley Field in Chicago, where the Brewers will play five games against the Cubs, including an Aug. 18 doubleheader.
