The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers square off tonight at Dodger Stadium to start a three-game interleague series between two World Series contenders.

But tonight’s game is not just a potential preview of what may come in October — it’s also an homage to the past. It features a duel between two late-career, future Hall of Famers — Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw — who have defined pitching excellence for more than a decade.

Both entered the league in 2008 after being first-round picks in the 2006 draft — Kershaw seventh overall, Scherzer 11th. They’ve combined for six Cy Young Awards, four World Series titles, and more than 6,400 career strikeouts. This will be just their sixth career meeting, and possibly one of their last.

Kershaw, an 11-time All-Star, is coming off a six-inning shutout in his last outing, showing the same precision and command that defined his peak years.

Scherzer, now 41 years old and an eight-time All-Star, impressed last week by holding the Kansas City Royals to one run over six innings, proving he can still shut down dangerous lineups — as long as he can stay healthy.

If Kershaw and Scherzer don’t meet again in October, they will undoubtedly reunite in Cooperstown.

Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Prediction

The Blue Jays come into tonight’s game after producing an offensive avalanche in Colorado.

They broke a modern-day MLB record for a three-game series, with 63 hits against the lowly Colorado Rockies. Toronto also scored a combined 45 runs and hit 13 home runs.

Surely the Denver air was a factor, along with Colorado’s atrocious pitching. The Rockies’ pitching is rock bottom — with a team ERA of 6.01.

But this matchup has all the makings of a low-scoring classic, with two elite pitchers still capable of dominating.

Expect early offense to be scarce, forcing both lineups to manufacture runs — and Ohtani’s big bat to deliver. Given Kershaw’s recent dominance and the Dodgers’ depth against right-handed pitching, Los Angeles holds the edge at home.

Prediction: Dodgers 4, Blue Jays 2
